The Basics
The FIU men's and women's track and field teams closed out their participation in the USF Invitational in impressive fashion at the USF Track and Field Stadium in Tampa. The Panthers placed six student-athletes in the top five and 13 in the top 10.

Women's Highlights
- Â Asha James posted the Panthers' only first-place finish at the two-day event, taking the top spot on the javelin with a throw of 44.10m. Along with James,
Jasmine Banks also placed in the top-10 in the javelin with a distance of 35.03m.

- In the heptathlon,
Kayla Woulard placed second with 4,611 points, just ahead of teammate
Samantha Ebanks who recorded 4,337 points.

- In the discus, FIU placed three in the top 10, led by
Gabrielle Rains who took second with a throw of 51.09m. Rains finished just ahead of third-place finisher,
Terrisa Russell, who recorded a distance of 47.78m, and
Timberly Molden who posted a mark of 43.50m. Rains' throw is the 24
th-best in the nation and tops in Conference USA this year.

Rahel Gerbretsadik logged two top-10 finishes on the afternoon, posting a 18:29.17 in the 5,000m, and a 4:47.07 in the 1,500m.

Men's Highlights

Allen Wiggins posted the men's top finish, taking fourth in the shot put with a throw of 14.57m.

- In the high jump,
Andrew Samuels posted a height of 1.95m.

Daniel Neptune had another top-10 finish, recording a time of 14.86 in the 110m hurdles.

Patston Stewart,
Reed Service, Husani Wilbrugh, and
Christian Williams teamed up for a top-10 finish in the 4x100m relay with a time of 43.05.

Up Next
The Panthers will get back on the track for competition, March 29-31, at the prestigious Florida Relays at the University of Florida, in Gainesville.
