FIU and Miami (Fla.) meet for the 122
nd time in their crosstown series Wednesday night at 7 p.m. from the FIU ballpark. The Panthers and Hurricanes both enter the game with 5-6 records on the 2018 season.

Last year FIU won the crosstown series taking three of four games from UM, including the first two games. FIU won 12-1 in Coral Gables on March 7, which marked the first time in nine years that the teams met in the regular season. The following night at FIU, the Panthers won in dramatic fashion. Speedy Panthers outfielder
Kolby Follis scored from second base on a sacrifice fly by
Nick Day in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift FIU past UM, 3-2.
FIU and UM played four regular season games last season for the first time since 2001, but will play just twice this season. The second game is April 25 in Coral Gables.
The Panthers won their most recent game last Sunday against Jacksonville State.
Lorenzo Hampton, Jr. snapped a 1-1 tie with a solo home run. It was part of a six-run inning for FIU in a 7-2 victory.
Freshman left-hander
Logan Allen had a nifty outing, pitching six innings, allowing one run and striking out a career-high 10 batters.
Allen also leads FIU in hitting with a .375 average.
Eddie Silva, who was 6 for 13 with two home runs and nine RBI against the Gamecocks, is second on the team with a .361 average.
Jose Garcia leads the Panthers with four home runs. Silva, Hampton and
Austin Shenton each have three round-trippers. Silva leads the Panthers with 12 RBI.
MacDonald pitched last Tuesday against Florida A&M and delivered six shutout innings to record his first win of the season. The right-hander allowed just four hits, two walks and struck out eight in a 7-2 FIU victory.
After Wednesday, the Panthers embark to Port Charlotte for the Snowbird Baseball Classic starting Friday. FIU will play three games on Florida's west coast against Western Michigan, St. Joe's and George Mason.
