The Basics
The FIU men's and women's track and field teams hit the road for their final regular season meet of 2018 at the Georgia Tech Invitational at the George C. Griffin Track and Field Facility in Atlanta, Georgia, and the Panthers turned in another big weekend as they set their sights on the Conference USA Championships, May 10-13, in Houston, Texas.

FIU had 24 student-athletes finish in the top 20, including 14 finishers in the top 10, during the two-day invite. Â

Women's Highlights
- For the fourth-straight weekend,
Clarissa Cutliff (Orlando, Florida/Edgewater) found herself atop the podium, with another first place finish. Cutliff, who has won all four of the meets that she has competed in this season, took first in the high jump with a height of 1.76m. In addition, teammate
Kenflore Atilus (Naples, Florida/Naples) placed in the top 10 in the high jump with a mark of 1.63m.Â

- In the discus, the Panthers logged another solid performance with the tandem of
Gabrielle Rains (Sherwood Park, Alberta) and
Terrisa Russell (Fort Lauderdale, Florida/South Broward) recording first and second for the second-straight weekend. Raines posted first with a throw of 50.76m while Russell was a close second with a mark of 50.72m.

- Russell also stepped in the circle and launched a throw of 58.42m in the hammer, which was good enough for second. That mark is also the second-best in school history, just one week after setting the school record in the event with a throw of 60.85 at the University of Miami Twilight Invitational. Â

- Asha James posted her second-first place finish of her short collegiate career, posting the top throw in the javelin, with a mark of 49.33m, the fourth-longest distance in school history. Teammate
Dina Cosic (Belgrade, Serbia) also posted a top 10 mark of 39.30m. Â

Sherilene Gelderblom (Middelburg, Mpumalanga, South Africa) posted a time of 17:12.68 in the 5,000m, and
Jada Roberson (Tampa, Florida/Hillsborough) recorded a mark of 11.93 in the 100m to round out the women's top 10 finishers.

Men's Highlights
- On the men's side,
Christian Williams (Hialeah, Florida/American) posted a top five and top 15 performance over the weekend. Williams finished third in the high jump with a height of 2.05m, and then logged a mark of 6.32m in the long jump. Joining Williams in the top 10 in the high jump was
Andrew Samuels (Brampton, Canada) with a distance of 1.95m.

Allen Wiggins (Orlando, Florida/The First Academy) posted a 14.36m mark in the shot put and rounding out the men's field competitors in the top 10 was
Luares Tavares (Taunton, Massachusetts) jumping 13.73m in the triple jump.

- The Panthers' lone top 10 finisher in the running events was
Daniel Neptune (Miami, Florida/Belen Jesuit) recording a time of 14.56 in the 100m hurdles.
