The Basics
For the first time in program history, the FIU women's track and field team leads the team portion of the Conference USA Championships, at Rice University's Wendel D. Ley Track in Houston, Texas. The Panthers used an impressive performance on Saturday en route to 47 points, five points ahead of second place Southern Miss (42). FIU had seven student-athletes finish in the top 10, including three taking spots on the podium.

Women's Highlights
- On the women's side,
Clarissa Cutliff (Orlando, Florida/Edgewater) continues to dominate the long jump taking her third-straight Conference USA outdoor championship, with a mark of 1.84m, just shy of her own school record of 1.85m set at the University of Miami Hurricane Collegiate Invitational on April 14, in Coral Gables, Florida. Cutliff Has been dominant on the event this season, having finished on the top of the podium in all five meets she has competed in during the outdoor campaign. It was also Cutliff's fifth-straight C-USA high jump title combining both indoor and outdoor.

Kenflore Atilus (Naples, Florida/Naples) also found herself on the podium taking third in the long jump with a personal-best outdoor mark of 1.77m. Â

- The women's discus corps, once again, had an impressive showing placing three competitors in the top 10 and four in the top 15, highlighted by sophomore
Gabrielle Rains (Sherwood Park, Alberta) winning her first Conference USA

championship. Rains found herself on the top of the podium following a throw of 51.59m.
Terrisa Russell (Fort Lauderdale, Florida/South Broward), who won the Panthers' first title of the 2018 championships, doing so in the hammer throw on Friday with a school record mark of 62.48m, also posted a top 10 finish with a throw of 48.86m.
Timberly Molden (Stone Mountain, Georgia) rounded out FIU's top 10 performers in the discus with a throw of 46.31,and
Harrison Mancke (Lecanto, Florida/Lecanto) recorded a mark of 36.77. Â Â

Jada Roberson (Tampa, Florida/Hillsborough) advanced to Sunday's 100m final with her time of 11.75 in Saturday's preliminaries. She also just missed qualifying for the 200m final. Â

Men's Highlights
- On the men's side,
Reed Service (Tampa, Florida/Riverview) posted his best distance in the long jump of his collegiate outdoor career, with a mark of 7.44m. Joining Service in the top 10 was
Christian Williams (Hialeah, Florida/American) with a jump of 7.33m.

Up Next
FIU will close out the Conference USA Championships on Sunday, the final day of competition. The schedule will run very much like Saturday, with the remainder of the field events, starting at 4 p.m. followed by the finals of the running events at 7 p.m.
