MIAMI, Florida (May 2, 2018) – Senior Nerma Caluk was recognized by the College of Engineering and Computing with the most Outstanding Graduate Award In Civil Engineering during her graduation ceremony on Monday, May 1.
 
Caluk has achieved great accomplishment on and off the court during her four years at FIU. She has received a Research Assistantship to pursue her Master in Structural Civil Engineering at FIU, starting in August 2018.
 
Caluk has won 78 singles matches and 51 doubles matches in her career at FIU. She is among the top five FIU players in wins since 2000. This Spring, she clinched four matches for the Panthers in dual matches and helped the team win the Conference USA Championship over Rice. Caluk will also participate in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Women's Championship against UCF on May 11. Recording a 17-1 mark in doubles overall matches and a 6-0 mark in conference matches, she earned First-Team All-C-USA honors in doubles, partnering with senior Andrea Lazaro.
 
Academically, she holds a 3.75 GPA. She made the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and was a Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal recipient from 2014 though 2018. She was also on the Dean's List at FIU in the Fall of 2014, the Spring and Fall of 2015 through 2017.
 
" I was very excited when I received this award since it is only given to one person in the Department," said Caluk."I am very thankful for the people that saw my hard work out of all the other graduating students at FIU."
