MIAMI (June 27, 2018) –– Nine FIU swimming and diving student-athletes were named to the 2018 College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team on Wednesday, highlighting the strength of the Panthers not only in the pool but also in the classroom.
The CSCAA academic honor recognizes students that have achieved a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher and have competed at their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA swimming & diving championships.

Rebecca Quesnel and
Naomi Ruele all earned the academic distinction from the CSCAA.
Earlier this month, Quesnel was named as one of 14 recipients for the prestigious Conference USA Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship Award. The conference annually awards the $4,000 Postgraduate Scholarships to graduates as selected by the C-USA Faculty Athletics Representatives and approved by the Board of Directors.
Overall, the FIU women's swimming & diving team was named a CSCAA Scholar Team last week after earning an impressive season in the classroom in 2017-18. The FIU women's squad posted a team GPA of 3.53, which ranked as the second-highest among all Division-I teams in Florida. Twenty-three members of the Panthers' roster posted over a 3.0 GPA during the semester, including seven with over a 3.75. All six Conference USA teams were recognized as Scholar All-America teams.
