Cameron Corcoran Inks With @FIUHoops

UALR transfer will sit out 2018-19 but will have three years of eligibility remaining

MIAMI (June 3, 2018) – FIU Head Men's Basketball Coach Jeremy Ballard has announced the signing of 6-foot-1 guard Cameron Corcoran (Orlando, Florida/UALR/Orlando Christian Prep) to an athletics-grant-in-aid. He becomes the second addition for Ballard during his inaugural signing class, joining 6-foot-3 guard Marcus Burwell from Richmond, Virginia (Thomas Jefferson High School/Northeastern Junior College {Okla.}), who inked with the Panthers in late May. Corcoran, who played his freshmen season at Little Rock, must the sit out the 2018-19 season, due to NCAA transfer rules, however will have three years of eligibility remaining, beginning with the 2019-20 campaign.

"We are thrilled with the addition of Cameron Corcoran to the Panther family," said Ballard. "He is an outstanding young man whose character will help enhance our culture. Cam's vast skill set as a lead guard is the perfect fit for our style of play. He will be an impact player by aggressively attacking the development of his skills, game, and body during his redshirt year."

Corcoran played in all 31 games for the Trojans, while also getting the starting nod twice for the Sun Belt Conference school, averaging 6.7 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 16.6 minutes-per-game. His 6.7 points-per-outing was good enough for sixth on the team. Known as a shooter, Corcoran, led the team in three-point shooting percentage at 42.6 percent, and shot 42.1 percent from the floor. He was also third on the team in free throw percentage at 77.8 percent.

A native of Gainesville, Florida, and raised in Orlando, Corcoran scored in double figures in 10 games, leading the Trojans in scoring on five occasions. He registered a career-high 16 points, going 5-of-6 from the floor and 4-of-5 from three, against Texas State (Jan. 13).

Corcoran played his scholastic basketball at Orlando Christian Prep where he averaged 13.6 points-per-game, during his senior season, while also dishing out 2.6 assists-per-contest. He helped the Warriors to the FHSAA 2A state semifinal game, scoring 12 points in the contest. For his efforts, Corcoran was named Honorable Mention All-Area by the Orlando Sentinel after his senior year.
