Lauren Whitaker continues our series, as the Greensboro, North Carolina native talks about her final season at FIU, her goals and Barb.
Q: What has been your biggest focus this offseason to get better?
A: To treat my injury and really focus on rehabilitation, so that it will not handicap me during my senior season and also to help the team become closer so our chemistry can become unparalleled.
Q: How important are academics for you?
A: Academics are very important to me, without taking them seriously I wouldn't be setting myself up for a successful future after soccer is said and done.
Q: What are your goals coming into your senior season on the field and in the classroom?
A: On the field I want to have the best season I've had thus far at FIU, which will be achievable with this great group of girls. In the classroom I want to maintain and finish with a GPA above 3.5.
Q: What advice would Lauren the senior give to Lauren the freshman?
A: To not take things too seriously and personally. Like water off a ducks back.
Q: Who is Barb and why do you take Barb on soccer road trips?
A: You know when you were younger and you had a blanket or a stuffed animal? Well I have a pillow; Barb, and she's an OG.
