MIAMI – Tip off the 2018-19 men's and women's basketball season in style on Thursday, Oct. 25, with FIU Hoopla, at the FIU Modesto A. Maidique Campus Wellness and Recreation Center outdoor basketball courts. The event, which begins at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 6:30 p.m., is free and open to all students and Panthers fans of all ages.

First year men's basketball coach Jeremy Ballard and head women's coach Tiara Malcom will introduce this year's basketball teams and give a quick outlook on the 2018-19 campaign. Fans can also sign up to be selected to take part in a dunking contest and three-point shooting contest, just prior to the men's basketball team taking part in a dunking contest and the women's team's three-point contest.

Additional highlights will include appearances by the FIU Cheerleaders, Dazzlers, and Roary, along with a DJ and fan giveaways.

The 2018-19 women's basketball season begins on Tuesday, Nov. 6, against crosstown foe Miami at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center. The men's team will tip off at home the next night, Wednesday, Nov. 7, against Webber International. Both games begin at 7 p.m.
