MIAMI (Oct. 2, 2018) – Florida International University (FIU) and the Florida Lottery announced a partnership today, aligning one of the largest universities in the country to one of Florida's greatest education contributors. The Florida Lottery's sole mission is to maximize revenues for the enhancement of public education in Florida. Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has generated more than $33 billion dollars for students and schools in the sunshine state.
The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program was created to reward Florida high school graduates who merit recognition of high academic achievement, like Eddie Chance III, an FIU Athletics Facilities Manager who's studying Sport Management.
"The Bright Futures Scholarship Program impacted me as a young kid trying to afford to go to college," said Chance. "It provided me with hope, encouragement, and inspiration to reach a goal and fulfill a dream, especially for a young kid that came from where I came from and with the little resources that my family had. It gave me a chance to become something bigger and better than what we could ever have imagined."
