DALLAS (Jan. 18, 2019) - With the 2019 FIU softball season just around the corner, senior
Jackie Schoff was named to the Preseason All-Conference Team, the Conference USA league office announced on Friday.
The honor marks the second-straight season Schoff has earned a spot on the preseason list. The outfielder has also earned back-to-back C-USA First Team postseason honors as well to lead the Panthers.
Last season, Schoff collected 69 hits to rank fourth in the league. The Bradenton, Florida native has earned a .387 career batting average at FIU overall, while sitting at 199 career hits entering the 2019 season. Schoff has played in 150 games at FIU, patrolling the outfield for the Panthers.
Louisiana Tech was selected as the 2019 Conference USA favorite for the second year in a row by vote of the league's head coaches. Seniors Morgan Turkoly and Preslee Gallaway return to claim individual honors as the C-USA Preseason Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively.
The 2019 C-USA Championship will be hosted by UAB from May 8-11 in Birmingham, Alabama. The championship's eight-team field will include the top three teams (by winning percentage) in the East Division standings and top three squads in the West Division standings, as well as two Wild Card teams from either division.
The Panthers will host the Felsberg Invitational to open the 2019 campaign, starting with a game against Memphis at 2:30 p.m. on February 8.
