MIAMI (April 10, 2019) – FIU beach volleyball standouts Federica Frasca and Margherita Bianchin have been named the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Pair of the Week for the week ending April 7, the league announced on Wednesday. The recognition comes one day after being named the American Volleyball Coaches Association/Collegebeachvb.com National Pair of the Week. It's the Italian duo's second CCSA honor this season.

The tandem posted a 3-0 record this past weekend at the Florida State University Invitational, April 5-6, in Tallahassee. Frasca and Bianchin defeated No. 17 Georgia State (21-18, 21-18), No. 3 Florida State (24-22, 21-15) and No. 16 Florida Atlantic (21-13, 21-15).

Frasca and Bianchin have proven to be one of the most dominating pairs in collegiate beach volleyball. The tandem is an impressive 18-4 record on the season, and a 16-3 mark on court one. The duo is currently ranked No. 6 in the nation at number one, by Collegebeachvb.com, and are 65-17 all-time as a pair, including a spectacular 53-16 on the number one court.  

FIU will close out the 2019 regular season this week, beginning today, at 4 p.m., at Florida Southern, and then on Friday, April 12, at 12 p.m., when it faces No. 10 Stetson in Boca Raton, at the FAU Beach Volleyball Courts. Following its single dual with the Hatters on Friday, the Panthers will head to the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Championships, April 19-21, in Emerson, Georgia, at the LakePoint Sports Complex.
