LEXINGTON, Kentucky (May 12, 2021) - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the beach volleyball All-Americans on Wednesday. FIU's Federica Frasca and Roberta Ribeiro earned AVCA First Team All-American honors, marking the third award for Frasca and the first accolade for Ribeiro.

"I am so proud of, and excited for Fede and Robi!" head coach Rita Buck-Crockett said. "They were a team we could depend on all year, on and off the court. During these tough times, they were great leaders in the classroom as well as on the court."

The pair went 22-6 on court one including win's over then-ranked No. 3 Florida State, No. 9 TCU, No. 11 Stetson and No. 14 Florida Atlantic in 2021. The duo's efforts helped FIU close out the year 25-7, and Frasca and Ribeiro were also named to the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) All-Conference team following the conclusion of the regular season.

Last week, the pair earned the AVCA Top Flight Award. In order for a pair to be eligible for the award, two athletes must compete in at least 15 matches together and at a specific flight number. Should that pair win at least 75% of their matches – regardless of the overall result of the dual – those athletes will achieve "Top Flight" status.

Frasca had previously earned the top honor from the AVCA with partner Margherita Bianchin in 2018 and 2019. The senior is the first player in program history to earn the honor three times, making the Italian native the most decorated player in program history.
