FIU Athletics Celebrates 2022-23 Excellence with the Roary Awards

Panthers hold annual awards event before capacity crowd on Monday night

 MIAMI – It was all about the Panthers on Monday night as FIU Athletics celebrated the top performances and performers of 2022-23 with the Roary Awards before a packed house of student-athletes, coaches and staff members.
 
The night included awards for each program's most valuable player as well as a sportsmanship award.  Special honors included the Perseverance Award, Best Record-Breaking Performance, Best Game, Best Championship Performance, Best Play, Best Team, among others.

Student-athletes, coaches and FIU staff were welcomed by Master of Ceremonies Scott Yogodzinski.  Scott Carr, FIU's Director of Athletics, followed with the opening remarks, which highlighted all the individual and team accomplishments for each sport during the 2022-23 athletic seasons.

Academically, FIU Athletics also enjoyed a tremendous 2022-23 as a total of 89 student-athletes have and are scheduled to graduate during the fall, spring and summer terms.
 
In addition, Panther student-athletes boasted a combined overall 3.39 grade point average and had a total of 261 student-athletes post a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
 
With spring sports still pending, FIU student-athletes have earned over 80 national and conference weekly and season honors.
