GAINESVILLE, Fla (January 11, 2023) - The FIU track and field program is set to begin its 2024 indoor campaign, competing at the Jimmy Carnes Invite in Gainesville, Florida this Friday.
Field events will begin at 9 AM with the women's high jump, while running events kick off at 11 am with the mile.
"We're excited to begin a new season," said head coach
Ryan Heberling. "The team has been working hard for many months now, and I know they're ready to get competitions underway."
MEET INFORMATION
This is the first of three consecutive meets FIU will compete in in Gainesville, before heading to Rutgers to compete in the Scarlet Knights Open.
Last season was one of the most memorable in FIU indoor history, with the Panthers placing fifth at the Conference USA Championships with 67.5 points - the most FIU had scored in an indoor or outdoor championship event, while the fifth place mark was also a high mark for the program. The Panthers also led the competition after day one of the event, sweeping the podium in the pole vault in the process.
