MIAMI – The nomination deadline for the 2025 FIU Athletics Hall of Fame Class is quickly approaching on this Saturday, Mar. 15.
Nominations can be submitted by
clicking here or the link at the top of this release. Former student-athletes, teams, coaches, administrators and contributors of FIU Athletics are eligible to be nominated; however, a minimum of 10 years must have passed from a student-athlete's final season of eligibility and a minimum of five (5) years for all others. For a complete list of criteria, please review the
FIU Athletics Hall of Fame Constitution by clicking here.
The Hall of Fame nomination form will remain available for submissions year-round on FIUSports.com, but the deadline for consideration to be voted into that year's class moving forward will be Feb. 15.
Nearly 20 years after the first, and only, class of the FIU Athletics Hall of Fame was inducted, department officials are proud to announce a revitalization of the Hall of Fame with the second class to be enshrined later in 2025.
Originally created in 2005, the FIU Athletics Hall of Fame welcomed its inaugural class in November of 2006, but since then has had no new members. That will change this year, and a new class will be voted in regularly to recognize those who have been instrumental in forging the history of FIU Athletics.
"A pillar of any athletic department is its Hall of Fame, and it was imperative that we re-establish the FIU Athletics Hall of Fame so we can appropriately honor and remember those who had a profound impact on our history," said FIU Director of Athletics
Scott Carr. "A special thanks goes to Deputy Athletic Director
Julie Berg for all her work and dedication in spearheading this endeavor. Julie has 35 years of experience with FIU Athletics, and there is no better person equipped to lead this effort. We're looking forward to welcoming a new class to the Hall of Fame and continuing that tradition for years to come."
As a result of there being no additions to the Hall of Fame in nearly 20 years, the Class of 2025 is expected to be larger than future groups, and an induction ceremony announcement date will be set in the coming months.
All FIU Athletics Hall of Fame members and classes will be featured on a newly created portal on FIUSports.com.
The first FIU Athletics Hall of Fame induction weekend took place Nov. 17-18, 2006, commencing with a dinner and reception on Friday evening in the Graham Center. The induction ceremony took place the following day, Nov. 18, prior to the FIU-Louisiana Homecoming football game, at which a special ceremony recognizing the class also took place. The FIU Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2006 consisted of the following five individuals:
- Pat Bradley – Women's Golf
- World Golf Hall of Famer, 6x LPGA Major Champion
- Mike Lowell – Baseball
- 4x MLB All-Star, 2x World Series Champion
- Andrea Nagy – Women's Basketball
- 2x All-American, 2x NCAA Season Assist Leader
- Dwight Stewart – Men's Basketball
