Dallas, Texas – Freshman Brianna Luoma and sophomore Katarina Drozd have been named the CUSA Pair of the Week for the period ending March 23.  

The duo won three of their four matches at the East Meets West Invite at ATX Beach in Austin on March 21-22, with all victories coming against ranked opponents. Their first win of the tournament came on day one against No. 11 Arizona State, competing as FIU's third-flight pair. They secured a straight-sets victory, edging out their opponents 22-20 in both sets.  

Day two saw more success for FIU's top-performing duo, as they went 2-0 against ranked teams while competing on court two. They opened the day with a hard-fought, three-set victory over No. 9 Cal. After taking the first set 21-15, they dropped the second but rebounded with a dominant 15-8 win in the third to clinch the match.  

In their final match of the invite, Drozd and Luoma continued their impressive run, defeating No. 13 Grand Canyon's second-flight team in straight sets, 21-15 and 21-14.  

With their strong performance at the tournament, the pair now boasts 14 wins on the season, the most of any duo on the Panthers' roster.

The Panthers will have a small break before hosting the FIU Pompano Invite, where FIU will welcome Palm Beach State and Tulane on day one, and play another matchup against Tulane along with FGCU on day two.
