Yanique Booth enters her second season on the FIU track and field staff. Hired in August 2016, Booth coaches the sprints and hurdles.
 
Prior to FIU, Booth coached at Nova Southeastern as the men’s and women’s sprints and hurdles coach. During her tenure, the Sharks set 26 personal records, produced 14 NCAA national representatives, claimed 12 conference champions, broke seven conference records and set 10 school records. In addition Booth helped guide the program to its first ever top-10 ranking on the NCAA Division II national list and produced Top 3 conference finishes for both the men’s and women’s team, annually.  
 
A Former Florida Atlantic University student-athlete, Booth left remarkable achievements at her alma mater. She left her mark on the Sun Belt Conference as she set the conference record in the 55-meter hurdles. Additionally, she held eight school records at FAU during her tenure and was a four-time NCAA qualifier in the hurdles. She also received the FAU award for most outstanding athlete.
 
On the professional level, Booth gained experience in the sprints and hurdles. The former Top-10 ranked hurdler competed in several locations such as Asia, the Caribbean and North America. While making her debut on the professional scene, Booth was under the guidance of several former Olympians and world-known Usain Bolt coaching staff.  Booth also earned recognition on the IAAF (International Amateur Athletic Federation) world-ranking for the hurdles. She was also a finalist in the 2009 World Championship Trials and the 2008 Olympic Trials in her respective events. In addition, she later moved on to become a national representative at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India and the CAC (Central American Championships) games in Puerto Rico.
 
A native pf Kingston, Jamaica, Booth is excited about the opportunity to assist with guiding the FIU Panthers to successful years.
