Biography

Coach Gwydir on Brittany: Brittany has worked very hard on her conditioning and it is already paying dividends on her overall performance.  She will be counted on to be a more consistent hitter this year, and she has the power potential to be a true long ball threat in the lineup.”

Sophomore (2005): One of two Golden Panthers to be named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week (4/11) after a weekend series against North Texas in which she batted .500 with four runs scored, had a 1.000 slugging percentage, hit three doubles and had her first career home run... Finished season with three long balls, which tied for second on the team, and was also second in walks (14)... Ranked among FIU’s top five in RBIs (15), slugging percentage (.320) and on-base percentage (.287)... Was 6-for-7 on the year in stolen bases for a .857 percentage which was the third-best on the squad... Went 2-for-3 with a run scored against eventual Pac-10 Champions and then-No.19 Oregon State (2/18)... With the team down 2-1 and struggling at the plate against North Texas (4/10), she ignited a season-high eight-run rally in the top of the sixth by driving in the game-tying and game-winning runs with a double to left center... Improved her batting average by 14 points from previous season.

Freshman (2004): Tied for second on the team in runs batted in, despite missing 13 games... Also tied for second in multiple-RBI games (4) and was one of only three Golden Panthers to drive in three-or-more runs in a single game... Had a five-game hitting streak, one off the team season-high, from April 4-11, playing against FAU and North Texas in that span... Her three-RBI game came as a result of a bases-loaded double against Maryland in the semifinals of the Golden Panther adidas Invitational, putting the game out of reach by giving FIU a 5-0 lead... That double started a streak of hitting safely in seven of the next nine games... Had seven doubles on the year, tied for second-best on the squad.

Prior to FIU: Played four years for the John I. Leonard Lancers... Team captain... Garnered all-state third-team honors... Four-time first-team all-conference selection... All-area first team and three-time all-area honorable mention selection... Had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage as a senior... Honored as “Warrior in the Clutch.”

Personal: Born October 31, 1984... Daughter of Wendy Witherow... Majoring in biology with plans to be a cardiologist after college.
