Hunter Porter

Hunter Porter joined FIU in August of 2019 as an assistant volleyball coach. 

During her first season at FIU, the Panthers volleyball team went 10-16 overall with a 3-11 mark against Conference USA teams. Lina Bernier was one of 11 student-athletes named to the 2019 Conference USA All-Academic Team, taking home the honor for a season-straight season.


Prior to FIU, Porter was at Iowa Lakes Community College, where she was the head coach for the Lakers' women's volleyball team for two seasons. The Texas native also spent time with Texas Advantage Volleyball North where she was oversaw the club and coached athletes from ages 12-18. Porter brings with her a diverse background having excelled in different industries outside of coaching volleyball as well. 

Porter attended and played volleyball at NCAA Division II, Emporia State University (ESU) in Emporia, Kansas for two seasons. While at ESU, she was named to the Commissioners Honor-Roll in 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 academic years. After her two seasons at ESU, Hunter transferred to Midwestern State University (MSU) in Wichita Falls, Texas and was a redshirt for the 2013-2014 season.

During her 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons at MSU, she was the starting outside hitter, team captain and was named to the Commissioner's Honor-Roll. While at MSU, Hunter also served on the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) leadership board. In her two seasons with the Mustangs, Porter appeared in 52 matches with 40 starts at outside hitter. She was also second on the team with 253 kills and 2.30 kills per set during her senior season. In her first season at MSU she notched the only double-double of the season with 10 kills to go along with a campaign-best 13 digs.

Porter received her bachelor's degree in 2016 from MSU in mass communications in 2016. She graduated with Cum Laude honors. Porter is a native of Red Oak, Texas.
