Biography

2005: Enjoyed another successful all-around season as the Golden Panthers’ starting first baseman...ranked among the team’s top five in multiple offensive categories, including first in walks (29), tied for first in doubles (17), second in RBI (47) and on-base percentage (.429), third in slugging percentage (.480) and runs scored (51), fourth in hits (63) and total bases (97) and fifth in home runs (5)...posted 18 multi-hit games and 11 multi-RBI games...recorded a team-high 15-game hitting streak from March 25 to April 21...hit a game-winning, three-run home run over No. 21 Louisiana-Lafayette (April 21)...reached base in 53 of 57 games...one of six Golden Panthers to steal at least 10 bases.

2004: Led the team in on-base percentage (.444), doubles (14), walks (38) and RBI (42)...also ranked third in stolen bases (10), tied for third in hits (58) and home runs (8), fourth in runs scored (38) and fifth in slugging percentage (.508)...recorded 15 multiple-hit and nine multiple-RBI games...coaxed a base on balls in 12 of his last 15 games and had two walks in a game on six occasions...closed out the year with a hit in nine of his last 10 games, including a four-hit attack against Western Kentucky (5/7)...hit .412 (7-for-17) at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Mobile, Ala.

2003: Posted 10 multi-hit and six multi-RBI games...scored a career-high 4 runs in FIU’s 12-0 victory over Middle Tennessee (4/6)...second in the Sun Belt Conference with a team-high six sacrifice flies...ranked in the team’s top five in multiple offensive statistics, including second in walks (31), third in on-base percentage (.430), fourth in slugging percentage (.481) and runs scored (39), tied for fourth in total bases (74) and fifth in doubles (9)...went 4-for-4 with a run and two RBI against Pittsburgh (3/7)...was 4-for-6 with three runs and a RBI against New Orleans (5/10).

Prior to FIU: Played baseball all four years in high school under coach Joe Webber, earning three-year letterwinner award and the Senior Award.

Personal: Born November 16, 1983...son of Pedro Juan and Gloria Lopez...an accounting major.
