Sun Belt Conference Champion... Two-time All-Sun Belt Conference
2008 Indoors: Captured the Sun Belt title in the high jump with a season-best leap of 2.04 meters at the conference meet... Matched that with a seventh-place finish at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational... Placed fourth at the season-opening LSU Purple Tiger Invitational after clearing 2.02 meters... Finished just outside scoring range at the SBC Championships in the triple jump after leaping 13.94 meters to finish ninth... Had a season-best 14.26 meter triple jump at the LSU Purple Tiger Invitational.
2007 Outdoors: FIU’s top performer in the high jump... Leaped a season-best 2.04 meters at the Disney Invitational to finish third... Scored for FIU at the Sun Belt Championships with a 1.95 meter leap for eighth place... Had the same height at the Miami Elite Invitational to finish second... Ran the anchor leg of FIU’s 4x100 meter relay at the Penn Relays, crossing the line in 41.96 seconds which was the seventh-fastest performance in the Sun Belt.
2007 Indoors: Tied teammate Richard Nellhaus for the team’s top high jump of the season, both having leaped a 1.96 meter high jump at the Florida Intercollegiate which was good for third among collegians... Matched that height to score for FIU at the Sun Belt Championships with an eighth place performance... Came in 12th at the conference meet in lone triple jump appearance of the season, leaping 12.86 meters.
2006 Outdoors: Picked up his first all-conference honors with a third-place finish in the high jump at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, matching his season-best performance of 6 feet, 6¾ inches... Also placed among the top five at the Miami Elite Invitational and Diet Pepsi Invitational.
2006 Indoors: Finished among the top-10 collegians in the high jump at the Gator Invitational with a season-best 6-foot, 2¾-inch performance.
2005 Outdoors: placed runner-up in the high jump and the long jump at the Hurricane Invitational, turning in a season-best 6-foot, 6¼-inch performance in the high jump.
2005 Indoors: scored for the Golden Panthers with a seventh-place finish in the high jump at the Sun Belt Conference Championships.
Prep: Competed in track & field at nearby Sunset in his final two years... Prior to that, competed for Mount Vernon High School (N.Y.) as a freshman and Coral Gables High School as a sophomore... As a senior, earned the GMAC Award after winning the high jump... Went on to tie for fifth in the event at the regional championships... That same year, named Most Consistent and Most Improved... Leapt a then- personal-best 6 feet, 6 inches in the high jump and 19 feet, 9 inches in the long jump.
Personal: Born January 22, 1986, in Miami... Parents are Richard and Sandra Cole... Has three siblings, Steven (20), Crystal (17) and Michelle (15)... Posted the team’s highest GPA in 2004-05, earning Dean’s List and Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s List recognition... Continued academic excellence in 2005-06, earning Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s List recognition, as well as being named to the FIU Honor Roll in the fall and Dean’s List in the spring with the team’s highest GPA... Off the track, enjoys playing basketball... A business administration major, with aspirations of starting a business and becoming an accountant.
