2008 Indoors: Earned All-Sun Belt honors with a third place finish at the conference meet in the 800 meters, crossing the line in a season-best 1:53.88... Ran the second leg of FIU’s top DMR performance, a 10:42.56 to finish fifth at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational... Scored points for the Golden Panthers as part of an eighth-place DMR team that ran an 11:18.36 at the Sun Belt meet.
2007 Cross Country: Competed in four races for FIU, including the Sun Belt Conference Championships and the NCAA South Regional where he was the Golden Panthers top finisher...Ended 18th at the 8k SBC with a season-best time of 26:37.70 and 99th at the 10k NCAA Regional (34:38.67).
2007 Outdoors: FIU’s top performer in the 800 meters... Ran a season-best 1:54.03 in the 800 at the Florida Relays to place ninth among collegians... Was third among collegians and fifth overall in the 800 at the Disney Invitational, crossing the line in 1:54.19... Ran the anchor leg of FIU’s fifth place 4x400 relay at the Miami Elite Invitational, crossing the line in 3:17.35... Just missed scoring at the Sun Belt Championships in the 4x400, running the third leg of FIU’s 3:26.83 relay which finished ninth... Ran once in the 1,500 meters, a 4:35.46 at the Hurricane Invitational.
2007 Indoors: Posted two All-Sun Belt performances in the 800 meters and as part of the DMR... Came in second in the 800 in a time of 1:56.08, his third-fastest time of the season, and third as the third leg of the DMR to help FIU to a time of 10:17.15 for third place... Top 800 time came at the Husky Invitational, a 1:55.19, while his second-best time of 1:55.32 came in the SBC prelims... Helped score points for the Golden Panthers in the 4x400 relay at the SBC meet, running the second leg en route to a fifth-place time of 3:21.52... Ran the third leg of the team’s top 4x400 relay performance, a 3:16.67 which was good for fourth at the Husky Classic.
2006 Cross Country: Competed in five-of-six races with a season-best time of 27:02.32 in the 8,000 meters at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, helping the team place fourth... Finished 11th at the University of Miami Tri-Meet and placed 16th at the NSU Sharks Invitational.
2006 Outdoors: Won the 800 meters at the Golden Knights Twilight in 1:55.26... Recorded a team-best time of 1:54.59 in the event at the Miami Elite Invitational.
2006 Indoors: Posted a team-best time of 1:56.25 in the 800 meters during the preliminary round of the Sun Belt Conference Championships... Went on to score for FIU in three events at the Sun Belt meet?the 800, 4x400-meter relay and distance medley relay.
At USF: As a freshman, placed seventh in the 800 meters at the Conference USA Outdoor Championships in 1:55.75... Competed in three meets as a sophomore, turning in a season-best time of 1:53 in the 800 meters at the University of Tampa Invitational.
Prep: Competed in track & field at Orange County... Finished third at the 2003 Florida State 4A finals in the 800 meters in 1:53.79... Earned all-state honors with the 4x800-meter relay... As a senior, voted Orange County’s Athlete of the Year.
Personal: Born April 22, 1985... Parents are Andrew and Rev. Kathie Charles... Has one brother, Alvin (20), who also competes in track & field at FIU... A communications major.
