Biography

2007 Outdoors: Threw a season-best 12.98 meters, which ranked 10th in the Sun Belt, in the shot put at the Florida Relays (April 6) to finish fifth in the “B” section... Made a 29.13 meter hammer toss at the Golden Knight Twilight to finish sixth among collegians (April 28).

 

2007 Indoors: Ran the second leg of FIU’s sixth-place DMR squad at the Gator Invitational, helping the team cross the line in 12:36.39... Also competed in the 200 and 400 meters... Ran a season-best 1:01.12, good for 19th place in the 400 at the Florida Intercollegiate.  Crossed the line in 26.68 in her lone 200 meter race of the season at the Sun Belt Championships, placing 32nd.

 

2006 Outdoors: Helped the 4x400-meter relay to a fifth-place showing at the Sun Belt Championships to score for FIU... Relay posted a season-best time of 3:47.01 at the Penn Relays and placed third at the Florida State Relays... Individually, recorded a season-best time of 57.82 seconds in the 400 meters at the Miami Elite Invitational.

 

2006 Indoors: Competed in the 400 meters and 4x400-meter relay... Recorded a season-best time of 59.38 seconds in the 400 at the Sun Belt Championships... Scored for FIU as the lead leg of the 4x4 at the SBC Championships.

 

Prep: Competed in track & field for three years at Mucurapo Junior Secondary School and for two years at St. James Government Secondary School... 2005 National Junior Champion and Hampton International Junior Champion in the 400 meters... Recorded personal-best times of 55.60 seconds in the 400 meters and 25.22 seconds in the 200 meters... Competed in the 400 at the 2005 Pan Am Junior Athletics Championships in Windsor, Ontario... Placed fifth in the 400 in 57.11 seconds and was a member of the runner-up 4x400-meter relay (3:44.08) at the 2005 Carifta Games... Ran the first leg of the winning under-17 4x400-meter relay at the 2002 CAC Junior Championships that finished in 3:41.83... Placed eighth in the individual 400 meters in 58.36 seconds, after posting a 57.01-second performance during the preliminary round... Also participated with the Memphis Pioneers Track Club for six years.

 

Personal: Born December 20, 1986... Parents are Vanduncan and Gail Edwards Roach... Has two siblings, Gevon (25) and Latoya (23)... Named to FIU’s Honor Roll in Fall 2005... An elementary education major.
