Biography

2007 NCAA All-American (400H), Four-time NCAA East Regional qualifier (400H (3x), 4x1)... Three-time All-Sun Belt Conference

 

2008 Indoors: FIU’s top performer in the sprint hurdle events, running an 8.19 in the 55 hurdle prelims of the Sun Belt Championships and an 8.98 which was good for 11th place at the Virginia Tech Last Chance... Ended up in 11th at the SBC meet with an 8.45 in the final, her second-best 55 hurdle run of the season... Ran the third leg of FIU’s Sun Belt-best 12:06.08 DMR, which finished third at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational... Posted four top-10 performances in the 400 meters, led by a 55.64 which was sixth at the Virginia Tech Last Chance... Helped FIU score in the DMR at the conference meet, running the third leg of a seventh-place 12:48.58 run... Finished 25th in her lone 200 meter run, a 28.06 at the Sun Belt meet.

 

2007 Outdoors: Became the seventh FIU female to garner All-America track honors when she finished sixth in the 400 meter hurdles at Nationals in Sacramento, Calif. on June 9... Broke the school record for the sixth time of the season in the event, clocking in at 56.98 seconds in the final race.  Had finished eighth in the semifinals (57.26) and 14th out of 27 in the prelims (58.12)... Finished second at the Sun Belt Championships in Lafayette, La. (May 13) with a then-school record 57.96, which was the 15th best performance nationally entering Regionals.  Would break that record twice more at the East Regional in Gainesville (May 25-26), where she finished fourth after a 57.14 in the final... First broke the 400 hurdle record at the Disney Invitational on March 23, in which her time of 59.53 broke the previous mark of 59.55 set by Tammy King in 1999... Broke the school record for the second time after winning the event at the Miami Elite Invitational on April 14 with a time of 58.63... Also qualified for Regionals as the first leg of the 4x100 relay team, making the mark with a third place finish (among collegians) at the Miami Elite Invitational with a 45.56 (April 14) , the third-fastest performance in the Sun Belt for the season...Also competed in the 200 and 400 meters... Her top 200 time of 24.34 came at the Disney Invitational (March 24).  She was the second-fastest Golden Panther performer in the 400, clocking in at 55.59 at the Sun Belt Championships (May 12).

 

2007 Indoors: Captured All-Sun Belt honors as the first leg of the winning 4x400 meter relay along with Janelle Clarke, Maneka Maxwell and Brittney Boston... Came in fourth for FIU with a 55.81 time in the 400 meters at the Sun Belt Championships.  Posted a season-best time of 55.60 in the 400 prelims...  Placed eighth in her only 200 meter performance of the season at the Sun Belt meet with times of 25.01 and 24.98 in the finals and prelims, respectively.

 

2006 Outdoors: Posted season-best time of 1:00.30 in the 400-meter hurdles at the season-opening Hurricane Invitational to finish runner up and qualify for NCAA Regionals... Was also second in the event at the Sun Belt Championships for the second-straight year (1:01.92) to earn all-conference recognition... Runner-up among collegians at the Miami Elite Invitational... Also scored for FIU with a fifth-place finish with the 4x400-meter relay at the SBC Championships... Relay placed third at the FSU Relays and posted a season-best time of 3:47.01 at the Penn Relays.

 

2006 Indoors: Competed in the 400 and 4x4... Posted a season-best time of 57.09 seconds in the 400 at the Sun Belt Championships.

 

2005 Outdoors: earned first individual all-conference honors with a runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles at the Sun Belt Championships in an NCAA regional qualifying and then- personal-best time of 1:00.37... Scored for FIU, but finished just out of all-conference contention, running the first leg of the fourth-placing 4x4 that crossed the line in a season-best 3:48.06.

 

2005 Indoors: anchored the 4x4 to a runner-up finish at the Sun Belt Championships to pick up her first all-conference honors... Also scored for the Golden Panthers in the 400 meters... The 4x4 was also runner up at the St. Valentine Invitational in a season-best 3:50.04.

 

Prep: Competed in track & field for four years, basketball for three and cross country for one at Terry Parker... Finished runner-up at states in the 300-meter hurdles... Placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2004 Junior Olympics... Three-time track team MVP and named Defensive MVP in basketball... Recorded then-personal-best performances of 18 feet, 2 inches in the long jump, 37 feet, 2 inches in the triple jump, 42.9 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles, 62.1 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles and 57.1 seconds in the 400 meters.

 

Personal: Born November 25, 1985... Parents are MacHoward Brown and Pamela Buckner-Brown... Has six siblings, Benyamin (31), Semikah (29), Tameerah (26), Lemuel (23), Hahavyeli (19) and Hazrel (14)... Sister, Semikah, competed in cross country at Bethune-Cookman College... Named to the FIU and Sun Belt Academic Honor Rolls in 2005-06... Was a member of the National Honor Society... Enjoys traveling... Also recruited by USF.
