FIU record holder... Two-Time All-Sun Belt Conference

2008 Indoors: Scored for FIU in the shot put at the Sun Belt Championships with a 12.51 meter toss, her season-best... Placed 12^th at the SBC meet in the weight throw with a 13.73 meter throw... Also competed at the LSU Purple Tiger Invitational, coming in 13^th in the shot put with an 11.77. 2007 Outdoors: Broke the school record in the javelin with a third-place throw, 41.95 meters, at the Sun Belt Championships (May 13)... Also scored for FIU at the conference meet with seventh-place finishes in the discus and the shot put at the conference meet (May 11-12) with a season-best 42.96 meter discus toss and a 13.02 meter shot put... Threw a season-best 13.20 feet in the shot put at the Florida Relays (April 6) to place third in the “B” section and rank seventh for the season in the Sun Belt.  2006 Outdoors: Picked up her first all-conference honors and broke a 13-year old school record with a third-place showing in the javelin (132 feet, 11 inches) at the Sun Belt Championships... Won the javelin and was third in the shot put with a season-best mark of 42 feet, 2¼ inches at the Golden Knights Twilight Invitational... Also scored for FIU at the SBC Champs, placing fifth in the discus and seventh in the shot put... Posted a season-best mark of 135 feet, 9 inches in the discus at the Miami Elite Invitational.  2006 Indoors: Set a new school record in the shot put with a 41-foot, 4½-inch mark at Boston University’s Valentine Invitational... Finished among the top 10 in the weight throw at the Sun Belt Conference Championships with a season-best throw of 46 feet, 4¼ inches.  Prep: A multi-sport athlete, competing in track & field for four years, basketball for three and volleyball for one at Cocoa Beach... Excelled in both the shot put and discus, sweeping the district, region and state titles in both events as a senior... Won the state title in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 39 feet, 11¼ inches, and also PR’d in the discus at the region championships with a winning 136-foot, 6-inch performance... Claimed the All-Space Coast Conference title in the discus and was runner-up in the shot put... Earned Florida Today All-Space Coast Conference honors as a junior after finishing runner up in both events at the conference meet... As a junior, won both events at the district championships and was runner-up in the shot put and third in the discus at the state meet.  Personal: Born June 15, 1987, in Rocklege, Fla... Parents are Eugene and Daisy Butler... Has one brother, John Tanner, Jr. (32)... Named to the FIU Dean’s List in Fall 2005, to the FIU Honor Roll in Spring 2006 and to the 2005-06 and 2006-07 Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll... In high school, the National Honor Society member participated in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Spanish Club and Beta Club... Off the track, enjoys watching television and spending time with friends and family... Also recruited by Florida State and the University of Florida... A chemistry major, with aspirations of becoming a doctor.
