Marrita Moulton

Assistant Coach - Beach Volleyball

Marrita Moulton will serve as an assistant coach for the FIU beach volleyball team for the fourth year in 2015-16.

FIU is coming off a stellar sand volleyball campaign, as the Panthers went 6-5 in dual matches while playing against the best competition in the country during the program’s first year of competition. Moulton helped guide FIU’s top duo of Kate Stepanova and Ksenia Sukhareva to the Hawaii Pairs Tournament title, and also assisted the Panthers’ number two team of Jessica Mendoza and Maryna Samoday in winning the first-ever Doctors Hospital FIU Surf and Turf Pairs Tournament.

Stepanova and Sukhareva, as well as Mendoza and Samoday were selected to the AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball Championship ‘Best of the Rest’ field, and went on to post perfect 4-0 records in pool play, advancing to the pairs championship bracket. Stepanova, who became FIU’s first-ever sand volleyball All-American, combined with Sukhareva to reach the quarterfinals, while Mendoza and Samoday advanced to the semifinals.

Before her stint as an assistant coach, Moulton spent part of 2012 as a strength and conditioning coach at FIU. She came to FIU from Hawaii Pacific University, where she served as a graduate assistant coach in 2011. Royster-Crockett also was the interim head coach at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee that year, and had previously coached in the high school ranks as an assistant at Maclay, where she led her squad to a Final Four State Championship in 2010.

In 2009-10, Moulton served as an assistant coach at Florida State University School, as her team reached the Florida Region Elite Eight. She also has extensive camp experience, and spent seven years (2005-11) as assistant director and head coach at North Florida Volleyball Academy. In 2007, Royster-Crockett was named Coach of the Year at NFVA, and the following year, she was tabbed Florida Region Coach of the Year.

Her professional volleyball career included a stint in Switzerland, where she was a standout outside hitter for VBC Cheseaux (2008-09). Moulton earned a spot on the Swiss All-Star Team and her squad ended the campaign ranked sixth in Switzerland.

Moulton enjoyed a collegiate volleyball career at Florida State (2005-06) and Florida A&M University (2006-07), as she started as an outside hitter her freshman year with the Seminoles in 13 of 17 matches. Her FAMU squad claimed a MEAC Championship and notched an NCAA Tournament appearance, while Moulton served as team captain.

While with the Rattlers, Moulton ranked 21st in the nation in kills per set, earning MEAC Outstanding Performer, MEAC All-Conference, and FAMU Player of the Year honors. She graduated from FAMU in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
