Thomas Dereyemez joins the staff as FIU beach volleyball’s graduate assistant coach. On the court, he brings impressive international player experience to FIU this season. He has spent the last seven years competing in France as a first division professional setter. Dereymez has played for four different professional teams including GFC Ajaccio Volleyball, Chaumont Volleyball, Beauvais Oise Universite Club Volleyball and Martigues Volleyball. This past season, he led his squad to the French League semifinal playoff where they won the French Cup (2015-2016). That was his eighth appearance competing in the French League and his fourth competing for the French Cup since 2008.
Seeking to further his coaching career, Dereymez relocated from France to Miami after spending the last three years coaching the GFC Ajaccio Volleyball women’s team (2015-2016) and the Istres Ouest Provence Volleyball summer camps (2013-2015).
Dereymez obtained his French Baccalaureate in major sciences and mathematics and also the French national certificate for sport education, BEES. Currently, an ACE fitness personal trainer, Dereymez is looking forward to helping the sand Panthers elevate their play in his first season coaching beach volleyball.
