Victor Martinez

Victor Martinez join the FIU Student-Athlete Academic Center in December 2016 as the Tutor Coordinator, as well as the Academic Coordinator for the Women’s Beach and Indoor Volleyball teams. 

Martinez began his career in higher education in 2009 as the community outreach coordinator for the University of Florida College of Medicine’s CPR & Safety Training Center.  After his stint with the UF College of Medicine, Martinez transferred over to become the program assistant for the UF New Student and Family Programs office.  He later went on to get a master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  During his graduate school career, Martinez worked as a Career Advisor and served as an academic intern for Football and Men’s Basketball at the FIU Student-Athlete Academic Center for two semesters as well as an academic success coach with the NSU Athletic Academic Services department.  

Following his graduation from Nova Southeastern University, he began working as an Assistant Director of Experiential Learning at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. In this role, he worked directly with students under the College of Human Sciences assisting them in all aspects of their Career Development, including: choosing a major, internships, full time employment, graduate schools and much more. He also worked with various employers ranging from Medicine to Retail assisting in meeting their hiring needs.

Martinez earned a bachelor of science in health education from the University of Florida in 2009 and a master of science in college student affairs from Nova Southeaster University in 2014. Martinez, currently serves as the National Chair for the NASPA Student Career Development Knowledge Community, and is a graduate of the N4A Professional Development Institute.  In his spare time, he enjoys running and has competed in marathons. Additionally, Martinez has also served as a collegiate volleyball statistician since 2008.
