Scott Griffith was named Volunteer Assistant Swim Coach of the FIU swimming and diving program in the summer of 2021, bringing valuable experience as both a four-year student athlete and youth swim coach.
Griffith lands at FIU after spending the last four seasons as a collegiate swimmer at Delta State University of the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference (NSISC). With the Statesmen, Griffith earned an athletic scholarship and numerous NSISC Scholar Athlete awards while swimming in the butterfly, individual medley, freestyle, and breaststroke events.
In addition to his experience competing in the pool, Griffith has also worked with the South Florida Aquatic Club (SFAC) as a Senior Lead Coach since May of 2021. With the SFAC, Griffith is tasked with developing athletes within the age range of 13 to 18 years old.
Prior to his coaching role with the SFAC, Griffith was an Assistant Coach with the Greater Pensacola Aquatic Club (GPAC) from June 2020 to August 2020. With the GPAC, Griffith assisted in supervising and coordinating practices, evaluating youth swimmers, and implementing group conditioning activities.
Griffith got his start as a swim instructor with the University of West Florida, where he served as a Swim Lesson Instructor and Senior Lifeguard from the years 2015-2020.
A native of Pensacola, Florida, Griffith earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Delta State University, while also securing a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in History.
