Biography
2004-05: Set new school records in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.11) at the Princeton Invitational (12/4) and 200-yard-backstroke (2:07.81) at the Sun Belt Conference Championships (2/19)...posted the five fastest times in school history in the 200-yard backstroke throughout the season...improved times in both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke by five seconds over the course of the season...her leadoff leg (2:01.10) in the 800-yard freestyle relay at the Princeton Invitational (12/4) was the second-fastest time for the Golden Panthers on the year...a vital part of FIU relay teams, as the opening leg on four relay teams (400 and 800-yard freestyle and 200 and 400-yard medley) that posted the fastest times on the season.
Prior to FIU: At FAU as a sophomore, finished third in both the 200 backstroke (2:11.37) and as the leadoff leg of the 200-medley relay against Miami...as a freshman, earned two fifth-place finishes at the NIC Championships in the 100 backstroke (58.88) and 200 backstroke (2:05.54)...represented her native South Africa in several international events between 1996-2000.
Personal: Born September 6, 1983, in Johannesburg, South Africa...daughter of Jeff and Carol Cokayne...an exercise physiology major.
