Almanza spearheaded the creation of the FIU Athletics Brand Guide, playing a major role in shaping the department’s logos, color schemes, and brand strategy. He has also been a key contributor to FIU’s uniform designs, most notably helping develop the 2024 “ViceU” uniform, which was recognized as one of the top uniforms in college football.
Prior to his work in digital strategy, Almanza served as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications beginning in January 2022, overseeing primary communication responsibilities for men’s soccer, women’s basketball, women’s swimming and diving, and women’s soccer. During his tenure, he supported programs to multiple Conference USA championships and led communication efforts for FIU’s nationally ranked men’s soccer program.
A Miami native, Almanza began his career with FIU Athletics in 2019 as a student intern before rising through the communications and creative departments. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Sport Management from FIU and is a proud first-generation college graduate.
