MIAMI (Jan. 8, 2016) – FIU seniors
Luis Rosado and
Jeremiah McKinnon have been invited to play in the inaugural Tropic Bowl college all-star game set for Jan. 17 at the North Miami Athletic Stadium in North Miami Beach.
"We are thrilled that both Luis and Jeremiah have this opportunity to take part in this event," Head Coach
Ron Turner said. "Both have been important to this program and it's great that they have another chance to showcase their skills."
McKinnon, Conference USA honorable mention at cornerback this past season, appeared and started all 12 games for the Panthers. The Miami native recorded 54 tackles (42 solo) which ranked fourth on the team. McKinnon led the team with three interceptions for 31 yards and was tied for the team lead in pass breakups (8). McKinnon ends his FIU career with 104 tackles, seven interceptions and 14 pass breakups.
Rosado wrapped up his final season with FIU, appearing in nine games at linebacker. The Gainesville, Fla., product registered 12 tackles (10 solo) this season, finishing his Panther career (35 games) with 91 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack.
McKinnon and Rosado become the second and third Panther to accept an all-star bid, joining
Richard Leonard, who is set to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl on Jan. 23.
