Allen Mogridge Named FIU Offensive Line Coach

MIAMI (Dec. 14, 2016) – Head Coach Butch Davis announced on Wednesday the addition of Allen Mogridge to the FIU football staff. Mogridge will serve as the Panthers' offensive line coach.

Mogridge brings over 15 years of coaching experience to FIU and has been a part of 10 different bowl teams both as a player and a coach.

"Allen Mogridge is a veteran coach and I'm thrilled to have him on our staff," Davis said. "He has had a diverse career as an offensive line coach, a tight ends coach, and a special teams coordinator. He coached under me at North Carolina and did an outstanding job. He has also been a successful recruiting coordinator and has recruited in Florida for many years. Allen has done a tremendous job, building some great relationships with high schools in the state."

Mogridge comes to FIU after spending one season at Georgia Southern as the Eagles' offensive line coach. Prior to his time at Georgia Southern, Mogridge was the tight ends/H-backs coach for UCF in 2014 before moving to offensive line coach for the Knights in 2015. His tenure at UCF began in 2012 as the special teams and tight ends coach for the Knights, prior to spending one season at Temple (2013) as the Owls' offensive line coach.

Mogridge worked as North Carolina's special teams coach, tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator from 2009-11. During his time at UNC, the Tar Heels appeared in three-consecutive bowl games. Before joining the UNC staff, Mogridge was at the University at Buffalo from 2004-08 where he coached the running backs, offensive line and served as the Bulls' recruiting coordinator.

A 1999 graduate of North Carolina (bachelor's degree in history), Mogridge spent one year as a strength and conditioning coach at UNC while pursuing his master's degree. As a player, he took part in the Carolina Panthers 2000 training camp before playing for one year in the Arena Football League with the Carolina Cobras. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant on defense at Buffalo from 2001-02. He then helped lead Western Carolina as its defensive ends coach and recruiting coordinator in 2003.

Mogridge lettered at North Carolina from 1996-99 while playing four different positions: tight end, fullback, offensive tackle and defensive end.

Mogridge becomes the seventh member of Coach Davis' staff along with previously announced Eric Thatcher (defensive backs), Kenny Holmes (defensive line), Kevin Beard (wide receivers), Brent Guy (defensive coordinator), Bobby Babich (secondaries) and Tim Harris, Jr., (running backs). Other additions to Coach Davis' staff will be announced as they are finalized.
