MIAMI (Aug. 10, 2016) – FIU began its second week of fall camp with the team's first two-a-day on Wednesday.
The Panthers took to the field early Wednesday morning, continuing work on technique and fundamentals. FIU returned to the practice field later in the afternoon for a full-pads workout, which involved a number of situational drills as well as a two-minute drill.
FIU's
Pete Pelegrin caught up with Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach
Ron Cooper to check in on the Panthers' linebacking corps.
Checking in on the Linebackers
The most experienced and probably the most talented part of FIU's defense is the linebackers. The Panthers return a pair of senior starters in
Davison Colimon and
Treyvon Williams along with 2015 leading tackler junior
Anthony Wint. Colimon missed 11 games last season after a season-ending injury in the opener at Central Florida. Williams missed eight games due to injury, but both players are back to full health.
FIU defensive coordinator/linebackers coach
Ron Cooper said that along with their playmaking abilities the starting trio has taken the next step where they have mastered the defense and its calls. Cooper added that those three will be instrumental in helping the rest of the linebackers and defense get in the right spots. (Click

PantherVision's
Brian Duval caught up with running back
Alex Gardner and Head Coach
Ron Turner on Wednesday.
On the lighter side…
Last night, freshman center
Shane McGough showed off his moves on the dance floor as the offensive line won the Inaugural Training Camp Dance Off.
