2016 FIU Football Fall Camp Report – Day 4

MIAMI (Aug. 6, 2016) – Practice number four concluded on Saturday morning as the Panthers continue to prepare for their season opener with the Indiana Hoosiers on Sept. 1.

"I felt today's intensity, like the previous three days, was very good," Head Coach Ron Turner said. "The team has had very good intensity, very good focus and outstanding energy every day. I expect tomorrow, day five, to be as good or better."

A 30-minute lightning delay disrupted practice a little less than an hour in, but that didn't seem to faze the team. FIU has seen its fair share of lighting delays over the past few years (including one that cancelled this year's Spring Game).

"The team responded great to the delay," Turner said. "They are used to it; probably more used to it than I am. I'm going into my fourth year and I'm still not used to it."

After the delay, FIU continued to work a number of drills, both individual and team.

Center Michael Montero gave Anthony Jones and the other punters a run for their money, making an acrobatic, finger-tip catch to close out practice. The entire team erupted in cheers following Montero's catch.

The team had a similar response last night, when Coach Turner unveiled FIU's alternate white helmet.
Here's for a look at the team's alternate helmet.

FIU will return to the practice field tomorrow morning (7:05 a.m.). Sunday's practice will be the first in full pads for the Panthers.
