MIAMI (March 9, 2016) – Head Coach Butch Davis announced on Thursday the addition of Aubrey Hill to the FIU football staff. Hill will serve as the Panthers' wide receivers coach, replacing Kevin Beard, who joined the Tennessee Volunteers staff earlier this month. Coach Davis also announced on Thursday the promotion of Allen Mogridge to assistant head coach.
 
"We've hit a home run in adding Aubrey Hill to the FIU coaching staff," Davis said. "He's a heck of a coach and an outstanding recruiter. He's got a tremendous ability to develop wide receivers. He will make our team that much better."
 
Hill comes to FIU after a brief stint at Marshall and four years as the head coach of Miami Carol City where he went 30-16. After leading the Chiefs to the 2016 Class 6A state championship - their first state championship since 2003, Hill was named the 2016 Miami Dolphins High School Coach of the year and a finalist for the 2016 Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year.
 
He came to Miami Carol City after spending a season at the University of Florida where he served as receivers coach and recruiting coordinator. Prior to joining the Gators staff, Hill spent three seasons at the University of Miami working with the wide receivers. In 2010, he was also named the Hurricanes recruiting coordinator.
 
Before arriving at UM, he spent three years on the University of Pittsburgh coaching staff, where he tutored first-team All-Big East performers Greg Lee in 2005 and the tandem of Derek Kinder and freshman All-American Oderick Turner in 2006.
 
In 2004, Hill coached at Elon (N.C.) University as receivers coach. Prior to that, he was the receivers coach at Duke for five seasons and also served in a pair of NFL coaching internships.
 
Hill played and coached in Steve Spurrier's "Fun 'n Gun" offense at Florida. He was a standout receiver at Florida from 1991-94 before moving into the coaching ranks. As a player at Florida, he helped the Gators to a four-year record of 43-10-1 (.806) and three SEC championships. He totaled 86 receptions and 18 touchdowns during his career and caught a touchdown every 4.78 catches, the third best TD ratio in Gators history. He was a team captain as a senior in 1994.
 
Following his playing career, Hill served as a Florida graduate assistant from 1996-98. In his first season as an assistant, Florida captured the national championship with a 12-1 mark, capped by a 52-20 victory over Florida State in the Sugar Bowl. 
 
Hill owns two degrees from Florida, including a bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science and a master's degree in leisure and sports management.

Mogridge joined Coach Davis' staff back in December, working with the offensive line. He brings over 15 years of coaching experience to FIU and has been a part of 10 different bowl teams both as a player and a coach.
 
"I've known Coach Mogridge for several years," Coach Davis said. "He has got a high energy level and enjoys coaching. He had that energy and an intensity when we worked together at North Carolina and has brought that same passion to his position here at FIU. He's a great teacher, who gets the most out of his players."
