MIAMI (May 31, 2017) – On Saturday, June 3, South Florida youth football players will participate in the Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance (OBYFA) clinic presented by MetroPCS, led by Head Coach Butch Davis and the FIU football coaching staff from Riccardo Silva Stadium.
 
Beginning at 8 a.m., Coach Davis and his assistants will run participants through a fundamental skills camp featuring youth football players ages 5-14. The half-day free clinic will have participants run through offensive, defensive and agility drills, including proper techniques to promote on-field football safety. Coach Davis and his staff will also discuss the importance of character development and good sportsmanship.

Entering its 19th season, the Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance presented by MetroPCS has more than 15,000 youth participants, playing in eight leagues across South Florida, from north of Lake Okeechobee to Key West.
 
Davis, who enters his first season at FIU, has compiled a 79-43 overall record in 10 years as a college head coach, including three BIG EAST Championships while coaching the University of Miami. In that span, Davis recruited and/or coached more than 120 players that made it to the NFL, 36 of which were first-round draft picks. Davis coached in the NFL for four years, and is still the only coach to take the expansion Cleveland Browns to the playoffs.

The 2017 FIU football season will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 2, when the Panthers travel to Orlando, Florida, to take on the UCF Knights.

FIU's 2017 schedule is highlighted with games against Boca Raton Bowl and 2016 C-USA champion WKU, Popeyes Bahamas Bowl champion Old Dominion, AutoNation Cure Bowl participant UCF, Foster Farms Bowl participant Indiana, Hawai'i Bowl participant Middle Tennessee and Gildan New Mexico Bowl participant UTSA. In addition, the Panthers will face Rice, Charlotte, Marshall and Florida Atlantic as well as first-time opponents Alcorn State and Tulane.
