MIAMI (Aug. 15, 2017) – During the 2017 season, Entercom's WAXY AM 790 The Ticket will be the official radio broadcast home for Panthers' football FIU Executive Director for Sports and Entertainment 
Pete Garcia announced on Tuesday afternoon.
 
790 The Ticket will provide full coverage and LIVE broadcasts which will include both pre- and post-game analysis for all games in the upcoming 2017 season.
The 2017 FIU football season will kick off on Thursday, Aug. 31, when the Panthers travel to Orlando, Florida, to take on the UCF Knights. Kickoff is slated for 6:00 p.m. ET.
 
"We are thrilled to continue our partnership with 790 the Ticket, making South Florida's premier all-sports radio station the official home for FIU football once again," Garcia said.

In the broadcast booth for FIU football will be AJ Ricketts on play-by-play, and Wes Carroll with the color analysis. Along with live game coverage, the duo will conduct a 30-minute pre-game show, halftime interviews and 30-minute post-game show.
              
Ricketts comes to FIU from Wilmington, North Carolina, after working two years as the sports anchor with WECT/FOX Wilmington. While at WECT, Ricketts chronicled the back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances by UNCW, while also covering ACC Tournaments around the region. Ricketts attended the University of Miami, where he ran track and served as the voice of UM Women's Basketball, and also called the baseball team's 2015 run to Omaha. 
 
Carroll returns to booth for FIU for the third-straight year. A 2011 graduate of FIU, Carroll has been calling high school football in South Florida for the past six years. Carroll, who earned his Master of Science in recreation and sports management from FIU in 2013, played for the Panthers for two seasons (2010 and 2011). He guided FIU to back-to-back bowl appearances, including the programs first bowl victory; a 34-32 win over Toledo in the 2010 Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. He ranks in the top five in a number of FIU records, passing for nearly 5,000 yards in just two seasons under center.

FIU's 2017 schedule is highlighted with games against Boca Raton Bowl and 2016 C-USA champion WKU, Popeyes Bahamas Bowl champion Old Dominion, AutoNation Cure Bowl participant UCF, Foster Farms Bowl participant Indiana, Hawai'i Bowl participant Middle Tennessee and Gildan New Mexico Bowl participant UTSA. In addition, the Panthers will face Rice, Charlotte, Marshall and Florida Atlantic as well as first-time opponents Alcorn State and Tulane.
