FIU hosts Bethune-Cookman at 6 p.m. Tuesday night in a single midweek game from Infinity Insurance Park.
The Panthers (13-16) are coming off winning one of three games against Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Louisiana last weekend. FIU rallied in the ninth inning to defeat LA Tech, 9-7, last Friday night.
With one out in the ninth,
Derek Cartaya walked and
Logan Allen poked a single to right to put runners at first and second.
Austin Shenton lined a double down the right field line scoring both runners and giving the Panthers a one-run lead.
Jose Garcia walked before Shenton was caught stealing third base. Freshman
Seth Cannady then doubled home Garcia to make it 9-7 FIU.
Juan Teixeira leads the Panthers in hitting with a .370 batting average. Shenton and Garcia each have eight home runs to pace FIU. Garcia has a team-leading 25 RBI.
Bethune-Cookman comes to Miami with a 10-18 record.
The Wildcats were swept by Stetson last weekend in DeLand. B-CU defeated Florida Atlantic, 7-6, last Tuesday at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona Beach.
Infielder Nate Sterijevski leads B-CU in hitting with a .298 average. Three Wildcats each have three home runs to lead their ballclub. Zach Spivey, Danny Rodriguez and Jameel Edney have each connected three times. Spivey has 15 RBI to lead the Wildcats.

Wildcats left-hander Donte Lindsay allowed two runs over 7 2/3 innings to lead B-CU past FIU, 5-3, at Jackie Robinson Ballpark last May.
FIU is 10-9 at home this season. FIU leads the all-time series with Bethune-Cookman, 52-15. The series began in 1978.
