MIAMI – FIU graduate transfer
James Morgan was named as one of 49 players nationally included on the watch list for the 2018 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc. announced this week.
Morgan is just one of five C-USA quarterbacks named to the prestigious watch list. As a redshirt freshman at Bowling Green, Morgan threw for over 2,000 yards and set a program record with 16 touchdown tosses in only seven starts.
The honor is given annually to the nation's top college quarterback, and candidates must be a college senior or fourth-year junior on schedule to graduate with their class. Criteria to be considered for the award include character, citizenship, scholastic achievement, leadership qualities and athletic accomplishments.
The winner of the 2018 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award will be honored Dec. 7 at the Embassy Suites Baltimore Inner Harbor Hotel & The Grand.
The Panthers open the 2018 season Saturday, Sept. 1, when they host Indiana at Riccardo Silva Stadium in Miami with kickoff set for 7 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
