Box Score ATLANTA (Dec. 1, 2011) --- Shooting just 24.1 percent (14-of-58) from the field and 16.7 percent (4-of-24) from 3-point range, the FIU men's basketball team (2-4) fell to the Georgia State Panthers (5-3), 73-47, on Thursday, Dec.1, at the GSU Sports Arena.
Senior DeJuan Wright led all scorers with 17 points on 5-of-15 shooting from the floor and 2-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc. The Detroit, Mich., native also grabbed 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Also scoring in double-figures was sophomore Phil Taylor, who posted 12 points and tallied three assists. The Marietta, Ga., native has now scored in double-figures in six-straight games. Sophomore Dominique Ferguson led all players with a game-high 12 rebounds. The 12 boards were also a season-high for the Indianapolis, Ind., native.
Georgia State finished the night shooting 43.4 percent (23-of-53) from the field and 26.1 percent (6-of-23) from 3-point range. GSU was led by Rashaad Richardson, who scored a team-high 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting.
GSU held a slight edge in the rebounding category, 42-40, and out-scored FIU in the paint, 28-16, while recording 12 blocks on the night.
With the loss, FIU drops to 0-3 on the road this season and falls to 10-23 all-time versus teams from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).
FIU will next host the Alabama State Hornets on Saturday, Dec. 3. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
