Anthony Wint were selected to this year's Conference USA All-Freshman Team, the league announced on Tuesday.
McGough appeared in 12 games, starting in 11 for the Panthers. The Tampa, Fla., native threw for 1,680 yards on 138-of-274 passing, including 14 touchdowns. His 1,680 passing yards ranked No. 10 all-time at FIU in a single season, while his 14 touchdowns ranks No. 3 all-time at FIU in a single season. McGough threw multiple touchdowns in five games, including a career-high three TDs vs. Middle Tennessee (Nov. 15). He also had a career-high 231 yards versus the Blue Raiders. McGough found the endzone on the ground this season, rushing for four touchdowns (second on the team).
Gardner appeared in eight games, starting in seven for FIU. The Jacksonville, Fla., native rushed for 582 yards on 137 carries and one touchdown. Despite missing the final four games due to injury, Gardner notched three 100-yard rushing games, including a FIU freshman record 138 yards versus Wagner (Sept. 6). He became the first true freshman at FIU to record multiple 100-yard games in a season. His 582 yards are tied for the 8
th-most in a single season and is a freshman record at FIU. The 5-foot-9 running back also recorded a career-best 62-yard run versus Wagner, which was the seventh-longest rush from scrimmage in FIU history.
Wint appeared and started in nine games for FIU. The Homestead, Fla., native finished third on the team in tackles with 48 (28 solo) despite missing three games due to injury. He led all freshmen in C-USA in tackles, recording five-or-more tackles six times. Wint notched a career-high eight tackles versus Florida Atlantic (Oct. 2) and had a pair of seven-tackle performances (Aug. 30 versus Bethune-Cookman; Sept. 27 at UAB). He also had one forced fumble (on the goal line versus Middle Tennessee – Nov. 15) and one fumble recovery (Sept. 20 versus Louisville).
