NORFOLK, Va. (April 17, 2014) – The FIU tennis team's (11-7) 2013-2014 season ended with a 4-2 loss to the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (12-12), 4-2, on Thursday morning in the second round of the 2014 C-USA Women's Tennis Championships at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center in Norfolk, Va.
Trailing 1-0, FIU won two-straight singles points as senior
Giulietta Boha defeated Karina Gurgenyan, 6-1, 6-1, and sophomore
Carlotta Orlando downed Carolin Drescher, 6-1, 6-3. The Golden Eagles would go on to pick up three-straight points to claim the 4-2 victory. Sophomore
Aleksandra Trifunovic lost to Mahitha Dadrieddy, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 0-6, freshman
Nina Nagode lost to Lisa Noderer, 6-4, 6-7 (4), 2-6, and freshman
Valentina Briceno lost to Alex Kitchen, 6-3, 1-6, 5-7.
With the loss, FIU finishes the season with an 11-7 mark; eight wins better than a year ago.
