MIAMI (Feb. 6, 2015) – The FIU women's tennis team (2-0) will face the Penn Quakers (1-0) on Friday, Feb. 6, from the Hecht Tennis Center in Philadelphia, Pa. First serve is set for 11:30 a.m.
Friday will mark the third meeting all-time between the two schools with the series tied at 1-1. FIU was victorious in the last meeting with the Quakers, defeating Penn, 4-3, on March 9, 2012, from the FIU Tennis Courts.
The Panthers are coming off a 4-3 win over Stetson on Friday, Jan. 30, as sophomore
Nina Nagode claimed the match-clinching point with a 4-6, 7-6 (8), 6-3 win over Carolina Meregalli at the No. 4 spot.
FIU enters Friday's match with five players who have won 10-or-more singles matches this season. Freshman
Nerma Caluk leads all Panthers with a 15-6 record, including a 2-0 mark in dual action. Junior
Carlotta Orlando is also 2-0 in dual play and has registered a 13-6 singles mark this year. Nagode, who has won a team-best eight-straight singles contests is 12-4 on the year.
A win on Friday would give the Panthers their first 3-0 start since the 2010 season.
