FIU Women’s Tennis Suffers First Loss of the Season

PHILADELPHIA (Feb. 6, 2015) – The FIU women's tennis team (2-1) suffered its first loss of the 2015 season, falling to the Penn Quakers (2-0), 4-1, on Friday afternoon at the Hecht Tennis Center.
 
Junior Kaitlin Borozvich registered her 12th singles victory of the season and second of the spring with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Lina Qostal to give FIU its lone point of the match.
 
The Quakers grabbed the doubles point, taking two of three matches. The duo of senior Yana Koroleva and Brozovich took the first doubles match, defeating Sonya Latycheva and Luba Vazhenina, 6-2. The Quakers took the final two doubles matches to claim a 1-0 lead heading into singles action.
 
Penn grabbed two more points for a 3-0 lead before Brozovich made the score 3-1. However, Penn claimed the victory as Koroleva fell to Sol Eskenazi, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.  
 
The Panthers will travel to Jamaica, N.Y., to take on the St. John's Red Storm on Saturday, Feb. 7. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m.
