@FIUSwimDive Represented in the 2016 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m)

WINSDOR, Ontario (Dec. 8, 2016) – FIU Swimming and Diving past, present and future are currently competing in the 2016 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) from the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario. From Dec. 6-11, more than 1,000 of the world's best swimmers from more than 170 countries will compete for World Championship glory in the 13th edition of the FINA World Swimming Championships.
 
Sophomore Naomi Ruele, redshirt senior Karin Tomeckova, Panther alum Johanna Gustafsdottir (2011-15) and FIU signee Kelsie Campbell are among some of the world's best swimmers, competing for 46 gold medals over 6 days of competition.
 
With two days of competition underway, Campbell finished 47th in the 200m Free with a time of 2:04.93 on Tuesday, Dec. 6. The product from Nottingham, England, also competed in the 50m Fly on Thursday, Dec. 8, placing 44th with a time of 28.27.
 
Tomeckova finished 32nd in the 100m Back, recording a time of 1:00.25 during the first day of competition.
 
Gustafsdottir placed 27th in the 100m IM, sporting a time of 1:03.51. The 2014 Conference USA Swimmer of the Year is scheduled to compete in the 200m IM on Dec. 10.
 
Ruele, the reigning C-USA Swimmer of the Year and 2016 Olympian, is slated to take part in the 50m Free set for Dec. 10.
