FIU Women’s Golf Finishes Fifth at this Year’s Notre Dame Clover Cup

MESA, Ariz. (March 13, 2016) – With three individual top-15 finishes, the FIU women's golf team finished fifth in this year's Notre Dame Clover Cup from the Longbow Golf Club (par 72, 6,184 yards) in Mesa, Ariz.
 
The Panthers shot a 14-over, 878, for the three-day tournament. Sitting in seventh place after the first two days, FIU compiled a season-best 285 on Sunday to place fifth among all 17 teams on the final leaderboard.
 
FIU was led by senior Meghan MacLaren, who shot a 3-under, 213 to finish tied for fifth. With two rounds under par, the Cambridge, United Kingdom native shot a season-low for her third top-five finish of the season. Senior Carla Jane posted a season-best, one-over, 217 (one stroke off of her career best - Johnie Imes Invitational - 9/29-9/30/14) to finish tied for 10th. The top-10 finish was the first of the season for the Santiago, Chile native. Junior Camila Serrano shot a team-low 69 on the final day for a two-over, 218. The two-over score gave the product of Bogota, Columbia her best finish of the season (tied for 12th). Rounding out the FIU leaderboard were senior Sophie Godley, who finished tied for 43rd (14-over, 230) and junior Coralia Arias, who finished tied for 73rd (24-over, 240).
 
FIU will next travel to Dallas, Texas, to take part in the SMU Invitational, April 1-2.
