FIU Signs Trio of Future Panthers to 2019-20 Class

Women's basketball has a bright future ahead


MIAMI (Nov. 21, 2018) – The FIU women's basketball program announced the signing of three stellar prospects for the 2019-20 campaign on Wednesday, with the future looking bright for the Panther basketball program.
 
The trio of Cheyanne Daniels, Fujika Nimmo and Alana Swift signed with FIU, bringing with them a wealth of talent and excitement to the 2019-20 squad.  
 
Cheyanne Daniels (Forward | Miami, Florida | Miami Senior HS)
Miami native Cheyanne Daniels will stay home for her collegiate career, as the 6-4 forward will enroll at FIU upon graduation from nearby Miami Senior High School. Daniels played under FIU's Gabriel Lazo briefly while at Ferguson High School. Daniels has a pedigree for winning, after leading her squads to a Junior Orange Bowl title in 2018, the GMC in 2017 and 2018 and two regional championships in 2015 and 2017.
 
Daniels plans to major in sports medicine at FIU and hopes to one day play basketball professionally.
 
Fujika Nimmo (Guard | Davenport, Florida | Haines City HS)
Fujika Nimmo is a product of Davenport, Florida, playing her prep career at Haines City High School in Haines, Florida. The 5-8 guard comes to FIU with a lengthy resume already in tow, after earning 9A Player of the Year and District Player of the Year distinctions last season. She averaged 27.4 points per contest at Haines City HS last year, which ranked 34th nationally and third in the state according to MaxPreps.com. Nimmo also earned 6.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists per contest to go along with her scoring clip. Nimmo is rated as a four-star prospect by ProspectsNation.com.
 
Nimmo's father, Jesse Nimmo, played football and basketball overseas in Japan. Nimmo plans to major in communications at FIU, as she aspires to become an ESPN analyst.
 
Alana Swift (Guard | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | Imhotep Charter School)
Alana Swift will make the trip from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to sunny Miami next summer as the 5-6 guard will join the Panthers in 2019-20. Swift has averaged 12.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest while at Imhotep Charter School in Philadelphia as a junior, while leading her squad to a 22-8 record and perfect 13-0 mark. She was also named to the 3A All-State Second Team during her prep career. Swift is rated as a four-star prospect by ProspectsNation.com.
 
Swift plans to major in criminal science at FIU, she enjoys playing the PS4 and working out in her free time away from basketball.
