Alex McGough was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in seventh round (220
th pick) of the 2018 NFL Draft. McGough was the second pick of the seventh round.

I'm ready to come in and learn from a great like Russell Wilson and help the team win ball games."
McGough becomes the eighth Panther in FIU history to be selected in the NFL Draft. Tight end Jonnu Smith was a third-round pick of the Tennessee Titans in the 2017 NFL Draft. Before that, FIU had not had a player drafted since 2013 (Johnathan Cyprien – second round/pick 33; Tourek Williams – sixth round/pick 179).

A four-year starter for the Panthers, McGough was named an All-Conference USA honorable mention selection in 2017. He finished his career as FIU's all-time career leader in touchdown passes (65) and second in career completions (806) and passing yards (9,091). He completed 232-of-355 passes for a single-season FIU school record 2,798 yards with 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions, while recording a career-best and FIU best 65.4 completion percentage in 2017. He ranked in the top five in C-USA in passing yards per game (215.2) and passing efficiency (142.8).
McGough also had five rushing touchdowns while carrying 76 times for 231 yards in 2017 He set a single-season school record with 3,029 yards of total offense while his 17 touchdown passes was also second-most in a single season at FIU in 2017.
McGough also became the first quarterback in FIU history to be taken in the NFL draft. He joined Smith, Cyprien, Williams, Antwan Barnes, Chandler Williams, Anthony Gaitor and T.Y. Hilton as Panthers to be selected in the NFL Draft.
